Here are some tanks I've completed for Battletech and battletech-related stuff recently relatively recently.

Gurteltier 3085: One of the 2 pieces I did for the TRO 3085 earlier this year, and the 3rd tank I've drawn thus far. This is a giant 100-ton tonner with a Gauss Rifle, a ER PPC, a MML-7, and 3 LMGs.

Tomahawk 3063: This was recycled from an abandoned tank drawing for ~Centurion13's TRO 3063, with some small design changes. This is a 60-ton tank with a LB-10x, a UAC-5, and an AMS.

Revenant 3063: Another one of the recycled drawings I did for the 3063 TRO. This is a 65-tonner with a Gauss Rifle, a ER Medium laser, and an AMS.


More tanks and armored vehicles to come in time.

Well no B-tech vehicle level munition weighs in at 10 metric tons (out side of capital scale weapons -Warships), a number of weapons systems weight that much, the rounds not to much. The heaviest rounds are the Class 20 autocannons with consume 200 kilograms worth of ammo per "shot" (the guns are typically fluffed to be 100 to 200 mm in caliber) and A Heavy Gauss Rifle which flings a 250 kilogram slug at hypersonic velocity's (over mach 5 or 1,710m/s). B-tech weapons do seem to fling their projectiles at much higher velocity's than their real life counter parts.

Some ammo mass weight per shot (with a rough size of the shell based on historical naval ammo weights and other weapons)
Light Gauss Rifle = 62.5kg per shot (roughly 6.75 inch)
Gauss rifle = 125kg (roughly a eight inch naval shell)
Heavy Gauss rifle = 250kg (roughly 10.5 inch)

Machinegun = 5kg (Canonically 12.7 to 30mm)
Autocannon-2s = 22.2kg (Canonically 20 to 50mm)
Autocannon-5s = 50kg (Canonically 40 to 80mm, though 105, 110 and 120mm are also noted calibers)
Autocannon-10s = 100kg (Canonically 75 to 100mm)
Autocannon-20s = 200kg (Canonically 100 to 203mm)
Note: Autocannons fire multiple rounds per shot

LRMs = 8.3kg (heavier than the unguided shoulder fired infantry AT weapons but a lighter than the Guided ones)
SRMs = 10kg (same as above)
ATMs = 16.6kg (Heavier than the shoulder fired AT weapons, but a bit lighter than the vehicle mounted ones like the TOE)
MRMs = 4.16kg (in the same range as most of the unguided AT rockets like the RPG and AT-4)

Sniper Artillery = 50kg (roughly in line with a 5.1 inch shell)
Thumper Artillery = 100kg (roughly in line with 6.75 inch shell, The gun weight also happens to be inline with historical guns of this caliber)
Long Tom Artillery = 200kg (roughly in line with a 9.4 inch shell -also the gun is in the same weight range of guns of this type)
Arrow IV = 200kg (A bit smaller than a Maverick missile)

Thunderbolt missiles 83 to 333kgs (varys on the missile type but the two heavier ones are in the same range as a Maverick missile)
Light Air to Air missile = ~500kg (heavier than the AIM-54 Phoenix missile of F-14 fame)
Air To Air Arrow = 1,000kg
Air Dropped Bombs = 1,000kg

Hehe, from a technical/mechanical stanpoint, the second tank just doesn't work. Mostly because the smaller barrel on top can't fire properly due to it being connected to the larger barrel below it.

Granted, this is Battletech, so it could easily be an ER Laser or a PPC, so that nullifies what I said above. If they were autocannons or other large caliber ballistic weapons, then it holds true.

Nothing in Battletech would work in real life, from the missiles, to the lasers, to the PPCs.

This is very true. Does make it rather fun though. :D

The autocannons would work at least. Not so much the Gauss rifles though.

I dunno, I don't even think some of the A/Cs would work, given their diameter is bigger than their barrel-length. :P

Sure they could. You make the chassis bigger to accommodate the weapon system used, either to handle the recoil better, or just to distribute the weight more efficiently.

Granted, I think it'd be crazy to do it, but you COULD do it lol

With no barrel, the round would just drop out of the cannon. That and the round itself would be 10 tons a piece and would go like 50 feet (then again, that's about the range of the big BT weapons, lol).

Wait, 10 tons apiece? How the hell do mechs carry several rounds of those things then if they increase the weight of the machine several times?

Damn you reality and physics trying to intrude on game logic!
